Level 2 is around the corner!

We had a little impromptu pow wow today outlining the things to come. Playtime is over, that's for sure.
After chef told us a little bit about how things will work and what will be different in level 2, she gave us our assignments.

We will from now on work in 5 different groups. These groups each have 4-5 team members. Unless excessive hatred develops within a group, the groups stay together, rotating through the five different stations.
The stations are Garde Manger, Saucier, Poissonier, Patissier and Family.

I am in the latter. Family is responsible for the family meal. The family in this case is everybody in school, students (only level 1 and pastry seems to eat the stuff), dishwashers, restaurant crew etc. The teachers actually seem to get their food elsewhere.

Family meal is not too fancy. We actually almost always opted to eat the food we made in class over the communal grub.

THIS WILL NOW CHANGE!

My new team buddies and I have nothing but the best intentions to rock everyone's culinary world.
Well, we'll see about that.
I am stoked about starting in family though. I believe that we will have a good amount of creative freedom. We'll soon know if I'm right.

As far as my new team mates are concerned, I really think I lucked out big time.
I have not worked with any of them, but they're all guys I like to hang out with.
This will be good.

What freaks me out though is the giant leap it seems to be to go from cooking stuff and eating it myself to cooking for 120 people.
But at the same time I know that everyone in my team probably feels the same way - yet we all know that as a team we can do this. And do this well.

As far as tonight's class goes I have to say that this was the most cheerful class ever.
We made a badass cake, everybody was in a good mood and even chef was downright cheerful.

I believe that overall she's quite proud of us as a class. I for sure am proud to be part of it.
